No, No...shame on you.
THAT is not what I was talking about!
......With your scissors.
That is what I am talking about. :)
How often do you cut yourself while grooming?
I seem to
do it cut myself at least once every few months.
Except for those couple of times that I decided to cut myself a couple of times in one day.
You know...it usually happens when you are scissoring a leg...at least that is when it happens to me.
You are scissoring along and suddenly you feel that little snip of the scissor tips on your skin.
Most of the time I just keep on scissoring, and check the cut when I am finished scissoring that leg.
There have even been sometimes when I have not even realized that I have cut myself.
I will suddenly see blood and panic.
Do I think to check myself ?
I panic and check all over the dog.
The dog didn't flinch.
' I couldn't have cut the dog.' I keep thinking as I am frantically looking all over the dog for some kind of injury or bleeding wart.
When I am finially satisfied that the dog is fine, I start checking myself.
I clean the blood off of my hand, or finger and sure enough I have cut myself.
I am sooo relieved.
I cut me...not the dog.
Only another groomer can understand my joy.
When a groomer sees blood...we are always happy when it turns out to be our own.
It has been awhile since I last cut myself.
I can't even remember when the last time was.
The cut today was very shallow and did not bleed much at all, but there have been a couple of times over the years where I have almost cut my own knuckle off, or scissored a V shaped chunk of skin off.
Thankfully that is very rare.
I am very good at always being aware of where the tips of my scissors are when scissoring the dog.
My problems is, I don't seem to be just as good at watching out for my own hands.
The crazy thing is, not 30 minutes after I cut myself today, my daughter also cut herself.
Only she decided to go much deeper than I did.
You know, it is bad enough that we groomers have to watch out for injuries from biting dogs, but it is just pathetic that we also have to watch out for injuring ourselves. :p
